Download for Mac

Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the MoreFrame website and the MoreFrame macOS application handle information. It is written for the product as it ships: a local editor, two purchase channels, and optional keys you paste yourself.

If a section says we do not collect something, that is a product fact, not marketing.

1. Who we are

MoreFrame is a native macOS screen recorder and editor. This website and the Direct-download app are operated by the developer of MoreFrame (“we”, “us”).

Contact: [email protected]

Polar Software, Inc. sells Direct checkout as merchant of record. Apple sells in-app purchases in the Mac App Store edition. Those companies are independent controllers of the data they collect to take payment.

2. What MoreFrame is (and is not)

MoreFrame records your screen, microphone, camera, and (if you enable it) system audio, then lets you edit and export on your Mac.

We do not operate:

  • a MoreFrame cloud, account system, or watch page
  • a content delivery network for your videos
  • website analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or a cookie banner

Recordings, projects, exports, transcripts, and caption files stay in files you control unless you send them somewhere else.

3. Information on your Mac

When you use the app, data is stored locally, typically in a .motionary project package and related folders (including Application Support, and any folder you choose in the Direct build).

That can include:

  • screen, window, region, and (Direct) connected iPhone/iPad recordings
  • microphone, camera, and system-audio captures
  • click, key, and cursor metadata used for zoom, shortcut chips, and interaction sounds
  • timeline edits, captions, transcripts, stills, and imported media
  • settings, including keys you paste (see below)

We cannot see this material. We do not receive a copy when you save, play, or export. Optional keys you paste can send limited data to those providers (see section 5).

macOS permissions. Screen Recording, Microphone, Camera, and (in the Direct build) Input Monitoring or Accessibility are requested so the features can work. macOS shows those prompts. Granting Screen Recording means the app can capture other apps’ windows. You are responsible for what you record and for any duty you have to people who appear in a recording.

4. License keys and purchases

Direct (this website)

Checkout is hosted by Polar (Buyer Terms, Polar Privacy Policy). Polar is merchant of record. Polar processes payment details, tax, invoices, and license keys. We do not see your full card number.

The Direct app stores an activation record in the macOS Keychain and periodically validates the key with Polar. After a successful check, Pro can keep working offline for a limited period (currently up to seven days). Validation confirms whether Pro is active. It does not upload your timeline or media.

Manage Direct purchases in the Polar customer portal.

Mac App Store

Purchases use Apple’s In-App Purchase. The App Store edition may use RevenueCat only to read StoreKit entitlements (whether moreframe_pro is active) and to restore purchases. Apple’s privacy policy and your Apple ID terms apply. We do not receive your Apple ID password.

App Store Pro and Direct Pro are not the same purchase and are not merged automatically.

5. Optional third-party keys (you opt in)

MoreFrame does not silently upload your movie to a MoreFrame server.

If you paste a key in Settings, the app will call that provider using your key:

You enable What may leave the Mac Who receives it
ElevenLabs (captions, TTS, optional SFX/music) Audio or text you submit for that job ElevenLabs, under their terms and your account
Ask MoreFrame cloud providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or a compatible endpoint) A short edit prompt plus a lightweight timeline summary - not the video file The provider or URL you configured

Local Assist (if you enable it) stays on your Mac. Cloud Ask MoreFrame runs only if you add a key in Settings → AI.

Default transcription is on-device Apple Speech. Cloud speech runs only if you choose ElevenLabs.

You can stop using those features by removing the key. Delete data held by those providers in their account settings. We cannot delete it for you.

6. This website

moreframe.app serves documentation and marketing pages. We do not require an account. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies.

Your browser and host may log standard technical data for security and delivery (for example IP address, user agent, and the page requested) for a short period. That is hosting, not a MoreFrame user profile.

External links (Polar checkout, Apple, Polar legal pages) are those companies’ services.

7. Children

MoreFrame is a professional tool. It is not directed at children under 16. Do not purchase or use it if you are under the age required in your country to contract for software.

8. International users

The app runs on your Mac. Polar and Apple may process payment data in the United States and other countries. Optional AI and ElevenLabs processing happens where those providers operate. If you use those features, you instruct us to send the relevant payload to the endpoint you chose.

9. How long data is kept

  • On your Mac: until you delete the project, the app, Keychain items, or the files.
  • Polar / Apple: according to their retention as payment processors.
  • This website’s server logs: only as long as the host keeps them for operations.

We do not run a MoreFrame database of your recordings.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and similar regimes), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data, and to object or port data.

Because we do not host your projects, most “access/delete my video” requests are things you do on disk. For Direct billing identity, use Polar’s portal or Polar support. For App Store billing, use your Apple ID. For this website, email [email protected].

You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. This policy does not limit non-waivable consumer or privacy rights.

11. Security

We use notarized Direct builds, HTTPS for Polar validation and this site, and the Keychain for Direct license records. No method of transmission or storage is perfect. You are responsible for access to your Mac, backups, and who you share exported files with.

12. Changes

We will post updates here and change the effective date. If a change is material, we will describe it on this page. Where the law requires consent, we will not rely on continued use alone.

13. Contact
