Download for Mac

Terms of Use

By downloading MoreFrame, buying Pro, or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site or the software.

These Terms are the supplier agreement for the MoreFrame software. They do not replace Polar’s buyer terms for Direct checkout or Apple’s terms for App Store purchases.

1. The product

MoreFrame is a macOS application (bundle identifier app.moreframe) that records screen, audio, and camera input and lets you edit and export locally. Requires macOS 14 or later.

There are two installers:

  • Direct - notarized download from this website; Pro licensed with a Polar key.
  • Mac App Store - distributed by Apple; Pro is an in-app purchase.

They are the same editor and the same .motionary project format. They are not the same license. Apple Pro does not unlock Direct, and a Polar key does not unlock the App Store copy. Both install as MoreFrame; you cannot run both editions as two apps in Applications at once. Some capture helpers - including a global stop-recording shortcut, USB iPhone or iPad recording, and click or typing sounds - may be limited or unavailable in the App Store sandbox.

2. License to use the software

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use MoreFrame on Macs you own or control, subject to these Terms and, for Pro, a valid entitlement.

You may make copies for backup. You may not:

  • rent, sublicense, or provide the app as a hosted service for others
  • circumvent license checks, export caps, or activation limits
  • remove copyright or trademark notices
  • use the software to violate the law

You may study and modify the software only as a mandatory copyright exception in your country allows. These Terms do not forbid interoperability work that your law permits.

The Free tier includes the editor, unlimited MP4 export at 720p (1280×720 landscape or 720×1280 portrait), animated GIF export, and AVIF still export with no watermark. Pro unlocks higher-resolution video and animated WebP for as long as your monthly or annual subscription is active, or for a lifetime license, while these Terms remain in force. SVG and Lottie export are also Pro features for graphics-only compositions (shapes, titles, icons, and similar). They are not a substitute for a video of a screen recording.

3. Your recordings and projects

You own the content you create. Projects live on your computer. We do not claim ownership of your media.

You are responsible for:

  • permissions from people and companies you record
  • confidential information that appears on screen
  • where you store, back up, and share exported files
  • complying with workplace, employment, and wiretap or recording-consent laws

Screen Recording can capture other applications. That is the function of the product.

4. Website

The site is provided for information and download. Features, pricing, and comparisons may change. Nothing on the site is a guarantee of App Store review outcomes, of a particular export looking identical to preview in every case, or of third-party service availability.

5. Purchases - Direct (Polar)

When you buy on this site, Polar Software, Inc. is merchant of record and the seller of the checkout transaction. You also agree to the Polar Buyer Terms.

You receive a license key. Activate it in the Direct app. Polar may limit activations. Subscription cancellation or a refund can revoke the key. The app revalidates with Polar from time to time. After a successful check, Pro can keep working offline for a limited period (currently up to seven days).

Prices may include taxes Polar is required to collect. Manage subscriptions, invoices, and keys in the Polar customer portal.

Refunds (Direct). Polar evaluates refunds under its buyer terms, card-network rules, and applicable law. Contact Polar for payment, tax invoice, and refund requests. We do not take card payments on our own servers and cannot refund a Polar charge from a personal bank account. Mandatory consumer cooling-off rights in your country are not waived.

Lifetime Direct Pro is a license to use Pro features in Direct MoreFrame, not a transfer of copyright in the software.

6. Purchases - Mac App Store

Apple (or the local App Store entity) is the seller. Billing, taxes, family sharing, refunds, and “Report a Problem” are governed by Apple. Restore Purchases in the App Store app. We cannot restore an Apple purchase inside the Direct build.

7. Optional third-party services

ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any compatible URL you configure are your contracts. You supply the key. Their acceptable-use and privacy rules apply to data you send. We are not those companies. Outages, fees, or model behavior of those APIs are outside the MoreFrame license.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use MoreFrame to:

  • record or publish someone in violation of criminal or privacy law
  • infringe copyright or other rights in captured material
  • attack, interrupt, or reverse-engineer Polar, Apple, or license servers in order to steal Pro
  • upload malware in connection with the site or installer

We may disable a Direct license that Polar reports as revoked, fraudulent, or abused.

9. Intellectual property

MoreFrame, the name, and the app icon are our trademarks and copyrighted software, except for third-party libraries and content you import. These Terms are a license, not a sale of the software.

10. Updates and availability

We may update the app and this site. We may change Free/Pro packaging with notice on the site. We are not obliged to provide any particular feature forever. Direct downloads depend on our host and Apple notarization remaining valid.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MoreFrame and this website are provided “as is”. We do not warrant that recording, export, or third-party APIs will be error-free, or that an export will be accepted by a platform you upload to.

Consumers: If you are a consumer, you have non-excludable rights (including in the EEA, UK, and Australia). Those rights sit on top of this section. Where a warranty cannot be excluded, our liability for a failure is limited to re-supply of the software or a refund of the amount you paid us or Polar for that license, as the law requires.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost profits, lost recordings, lost business, or indirect or consequential loss, even if we were told they were possible.

Our total liability arising out of the software or this site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for MoreFrame Pro in the three months before the claim, and (b) USD $50, except where the law forbids that cap (including death, personal injury, or fraud caused by us).

Polar’s and Apple’s liability for the payment transaction is set by their terms, not this paragraph.

13. Termination

You may stop using MoreFrame and delete it at any time. Subscriptions remain payable until cancelled through Polar or Apple.

We may terminate a Direct license if you materially breach these Terms or if Polar revokes the key. On termination, Pro features stop; you may keep files you already exported.

Sections that should survive (including 3, 8–12, and 14) survive.

14. Law and disputes

Mandatory consumer, privacy, and copyright rules in your country apply and are not displaced where the law says they cannot be.

Subject to those rules, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of MoreFrame, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Polar checkout disputes follow Polar’s terms. App Store disputes follow Apple’s terms.

You and we will first try to resolve a dispute by email to [email protected]. Nothing here blocks you from using a small-claims court or a statutory consumer ombudsman.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new effective date. If a change is material, we will say so on this page. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance, except where the law requires a different process.
