Where things live

The editor has four working regions:
- Project panel (left): switch between Project, Media, Assets, Effects, and Captions. Project shows file and canvas information. Media contains files inside this project. Assets is the shared library. Effects and Captions add new material to the timeline.
- Canvas and preview (middle): arrange and resize visible layers, play the edit, set the frame ratio, apply a layout, crop, and choose the active canvas tool. Preview and export use the same project settings.
- Inspector (right): changes with the current selection. Select a clip to edit its layout, appearance, motion, audio, or text. Click empty canvas to see canvas background, frame, guides, and global options.
- Timeline (bottom): lanes for Main, additional video, camera, captions, zoom, overlays, music, and other audio. This is where you trim, split, reorder, keyframe, mute, hide, lock, and group clips.
The toolbar above the canvas holds project-wide actions such as frame ratio, layouts, crop, selection tools, playback view controls, and Export. The timeline has its own edit and zoom controls.
Drag the dividers to give the canvas, side panels, or timeline more room. Use the panel buttons near Export to hide or restore the left panel and inspector.
What changes when you click
- Click a visual layer on the canvas or timeline to select the same clip in both places.
- Click a caption or audio clip to open controls for that type.
- Click empty canvas to edit the project frame instead of a layer.
- Double-click a compound layer to enter its timeline. Use the breadcrumb above the timeline to return to the main timeline.
If a layer is locked you will see Layer is locked. Unlock it in the inspector.
