Keyboard shortcuts

Press ⇧⌘P in MoreFrame to open the searchable shortcut window. The list below matches the current application.

Letter shortcuts pause while you type in a text field. Click the canvas or timeline before using an editor shortcut.

General

Keys	Action	Details
⌘N	New project	Opens the project setup window.
⌘E	Export	Opens export for the current project.
⌘Z	Undo	Reverses the last editor command.
⇧⌘Z	Redo	Restores the last undone command.
⇧⌘P	Keyboard shortcuts	Opens the searchable in-app shortcut list.
⌘C / ⌘V / ⌘D	Copy / paste / duplicate	Applies to the timeline selection. Text fields retain normal macOS copy and paste.
⌘A	Select all	Selects clips and zooms on the timeline.

Recording

Keys	Action	Details
⇧⌘R	Record	Opens the floating recording bar.
⇧⌘S	Stop recording	Stops an active capture. The Direct edition can use this globally while another app is active.
⌥⌘R	Record voiceover	Records narration onto the Mic track at the playhead. Press again to stop.

The App Store edition may require the floating recording bar to stop a capture because global shortcuts are restricted by the sandbox.

Playback

Keys	Action	Details
Space	Play / pause	Works when a text field is not actively receiving typing.
K	Pause	Stops playback without moving the playhead.
⌘.	Stop	Stops playback.
J / L	Step backward / forward	Moves by one second.
⌘← / ⌘→	Go to start / end	Jumps to the project boundaries.
⌘L	Loop playback	Toggles looping for the active playback range.
I / O	Play area in / out	Sets the loop range at the playhead. Loop turns on automatically.

Timeline editing

Keys	Action	Details
B	Split at playhead	Splits selected clips. If nothing is selected, splits every track at the playhead.
Delete	Delete selection	Removes selected clips, zooms, or bookmarks. Shifts later clips when Ripple is on.
⇧Delete	Ripple delete	Removes the selection and closes the gap on that track.
Q / W	Trim before / after	Trims selected clips at the playhead, or applies across tracks when nothing is selected.
⌘M	Remove gaps	Packs the selected layer. With nothing selected, packs the main timeline.
← / →	Nudge	Moves a selected item by one frame. Hold Shift for one second. With no selection, moves the playhead.
⇧⌘← / ⇧⌘→	Swap clip	Exchanges the selected clip with the previous or next clip on its lane.
Z	Add zoom	Adds a zoom at the playhead.
⇧Z	Place zoom	Lets you place the zoom target directly on the preview.
F	Freeze frame	Creates a still frame from the selected video.
= / −	Timeline zoom	Changes the visible timeline scale around the pointer.
⌥⌘E	Extract audio	Creates an audio clip from the selected video.
R	Reverse clip	Works when the pointer is over the timeline rather than the canvas.

Bookmarks

Keys	Action	Details
M	Add bookmark	Adds a point bookmark at the playhead.
⇧M	Bookmark play area	Creates a range bookmark from the active play area.
⌥← / ⌥→	Previous / next bookmark	Jumps between bookmarks.

Layers

Keys	Action	Details
⌘G	Compound layers	Groups the selected layers into one compound.
⇧⌘G	Uncompound	Opens a compound back into its component layers.
⌥⌘L	Link clips	Links selected clips so moves and deletes stay together.
⇧⌥⌘L	Unlink clips	Removes the link between selected clips.
⇧H / ⇧V	Flip	Flips selected visual layers horizontally or vertically.

Canvas tools

Keys	Action	Details
R	Rotate tool	Works when the pointer is over the preview and a rotatable layer is selected.
V	Select tool	Returns the preview to normal selection and movement.
Esc	Exit or cancel	Leaves an active canvas tool or closes a modal that supports cancel.

When a shortcut does not respond

1. Click the timeline for timeline commands or the preview for canvas tools.
2. Finish editing text, a number field, or a search box.
3. Confirm the required clip or layer is selected.
4. Remember that R changes by context: timeline means Reverse; preview means Rotate.
5. Open Help → Keyboard Shortcuts or press ⇧⌘P to search the live in-app list.
